Scholarship Awards

In 2024 the Doc Booth Foundation awarded twelve $2,000 scholarships to students in the Washington County School District. A strong advocate for education, Doc Booth recognized its profound value and the lasting impact it has on individuals’ lives. Here are a few recipients and how this scholarship benefited them:

Alina Souberbielle

Desert Hills High School

“This scholarship has helped me in so many ways! Not only was I able to share my story about myself and my journey in the essay I wrote, but I was able to go to my first year of university debt free! I was able to talk about things that I had never shared with anyone else and I was able to talk about what it's like to live in Saint George, Utah. Thanks to the Doc Booth Foundation I entered my first year of university calm and confident! Thank you for this amazing opportunity!”

Waylon Woods

Enterprise High School

“The Doc Booth scholarship helped me immensely! It helped me cover my costs for housing and tuition during my freshman year at college and removed a big load from my shoulders, I was able to set my focus on school because of it. Thank you so much to the Doc Booth foundation!”

Taryn Weight

Dixie High School

“The scholarship I received from the Doc Booth Foundation has been such a blessing. It helped me attend the school I always wanted to go to and make the big transition of living on my own and attending university. Moving away from home was hard, but the financial security this scholarship gave me helped increase my confidence. School is amazing. I've made so many new friends, attended fun sporting events, and learned so much as I strive to do good in all my classes. I am so thankful for the Doc Booth Scholarship.”

Mental Health Advocacy

The Doc Booth Foundation is committed to support in mental health areas in Utah’s Dixie. In 2024 we were able to help 10 families in the MHAP program in the Washington County School District. This program provides vouchers to help families access community counseling services by covering the cost of an initial assessment and four follow-up visits. It’s designed to reduce barriers to mental health support, particularly for families who might feel hesitant or face financial challenges.

The Doc Booth Foundation is sponsoring the annual Hope Squad Training for schools in the Washington County School District. This full-day event, held at the beginning of the school year, includes training, speakers, QPR certification, lunch, and HOPE Squad gear for students in grades 7-12, selected from schools across the district. Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that empowers students to recognize warning signs and connect their peers to a trusted adult. Their purpose is to foster human connection, community, and hope.

Sports

Doc Booth’s passion for high school sports came second only to his love of Diet Coke. He could often be spotted on the front row, heckling the refs and cheering on his beloved Dixie team, but his enthusiasm for all the high school teams (except Pine View, haha) led him to attend as many games as possible.

Each year, we are committed to donating to a different sport. This year, we’ve chosen to support the girls’ basketball teams across the district…including Pine View. We hope this contribution will aid the student-athletes and serve as a tribute to Doc Booth’s love for all things sports.
